Can you build a coaching business while traveling full-time?

Yes. Coaching businesses can be built and run from anywhere with reliable wifi, a private space for client calls, and the willingness to design your work around your life rather than fitting your life around your work.

The traditional model assumes that serious work happens in one location, behind a desk, during specific hours. For many coaches that model is necessary. For others, it is a habit inherited from a corporate world that prized presence over output.

Six years into running my coaching practice nomadically, I can tell you the location matters far less than three other things: the quality of the wifi, the consistency of the client-facing schedule, and the discipline to show up the same way regardless of whether the desk is in Costa Rica, Italy, or Thailand.

What clients actually want is presence...not geographic, but emotional. They want a coach who is fully there for the 60 minutes they are on the call. The view out the window behind that coach is irrelevant.

What does matter:

• Consistent time zones for client-facing work, even when the coach moves between time zones

• A reliable backup wifi plan (mobile hotspot, second location identified in advance)

• A private space for every session, even if it is improvised

• Boundaries around when and where the work happens, so that nomadic life does not become 24/7 availability

  
  

The myth is that this kind of business looks like Instagram - beautiful desks, ocean views, easy days. The reality is closer to Costa Rica bedrooms with boxes stacked under a laptop so the camera angle works.

Both are true.

The aesthetic is real.

So is the discipline underneath it.
